Forum for Fee Based Advice

Promoting client-centred advice free from conflicts of interest

We aim to support a better functioning advisory market place where consumers seeking the conflict of interest free financial planner or adviser can actually find the genuine article! Join the Forum and help to make us a force to be reckoned with!

Objectives

  • Promoting the benefits of independent financial advice and planning free from conflicts of interest
  • Providing a search engine facility for consumers to find truly independent firms in their area
  • Commenting to the media and regulators on issues relevant to the Forum

What the Forum believes

Independence in financial services has often simply meant being able to recommend a product from a full range of product providers but we believe that real independence goes much further.

Our Core Principles are:

  • Compensation - all fees agreed in advance and in writing prior to client engagement with the client receiving the full benefit of any commission
  • Adviser remuneration policy - adviser remuneration determined by performance indicators which support appropriate conflict free advice
  • Loyalty - acting in the best interest of the client even if this conflicts with the firm's or adviser's financial interests

Additionally we believe that:

  • Expertise - all advisers within the member firm are appropriately qualified for the advice and planning services they offer and are members of an appropriate professional body
  • Visibility - Member firms will be independently verified and their details entered onto the Forum website where clients will be able to give a user rating on the service they have received

Who should join the Forum?

The Forum is open to all UK independent financial advisory firms who are interested in joining together to promote client-centred advice free from conflicts of interest.

If you occupy a fee only or fee based space at the moment (our research indicates that over 400 firms currently do!) or you wish to do so in the near future and you want your firm to be seen to be putting client's financial interests first then you are likely to qualify as a conflict of interest free financial adviser firm when independent verfication is brought in.

There will be no cost to joining the Forum on the business network as a basic member.
